well about them... got bad news now, since mama Capuchon was too young and didn't have any nest prepared and because it was very unexpected, the babies died and even I couldn't save them or I would have had to stay up all night to check on them. There is nothing I could do to save them, so yeah... what happened happened and the only one to blame would be the petshop where I bought them for not separating the genders so yeah... once a male is sexually mature, he can get a female who is sexually mature too and when it's too young, problems occur, the person who buys the rats doesn't know that the female is pregnant and then the owner (Me in that case) is unhappy >_>

well I was expecting it anyway. I (she) wasn't prepared to it. I didn't have any material for it and it happened in my hood, so no nest prepared, moving around a lot and she was very young too so what I really hate about it is how I can't trust the petshop much after that. I mean I wouldn't buy rodents there now that I know they are not separating the genders or would have to be really really sure that if I take a female she's not pregnant. But Capuchon got fertilized like a few days before I bought her.

well that's what they should be supposed to do... or else bad surprises like this happen. Unfortunately here many petshops don't separate the genders plus it's not hard to tell it's a male or a female...

it is when your a lil girl and you don know whats a male or female i mean cuz i had a male rat that was white and i named him cindy not knowing the rat was a boy i thought all white rats were girls not men so i was a bit upset when he died i loved that rat but i was 7 when that happened.

For the customer it can be hard, but for the employee it's not supposed to be and should tell if it's a male or a female. Males and females have different behaviors too. If someone wants a rat that is rather more calm, then go for a male while the female is more of the curious type and likes to explore and go out of the cage so it's important to know what you want in this too.
